Craig and his band played a “hot set” in the late afternoon before Tower of Power started their set at dusk.  The temperatures were over 100 that day!

Craig has enjoyed playing Live with TOP in concert before and back in 1979 Tower of Power actually played on Craig’s Jefferson Starship hit song, JANE, in the bridge leading up to Craig’s solo in the studio while the newly revamped band lineup recording Freedom at Point Zero at the legendary Record Plant in Sauslito.

This song and album produced by Ron Nevison (Bad Company, Heart, UFO, Led Zep, The Who, Survivor, etc.) and engineered by Mike Clink (Guns ‘n’ Roses, Whitesnake, Steve Vai, Slash, Sammy Hagar, Aerosmith, etc..) introduced Mickey Thomas to the world in 1979 as the new rockin’ lead singer for Jefferson Starship after he left the  Elvin Bishop Band and Grace Slick and Marty Balin departed Jefferson Starship. Four big shoes to fill but obviously many hits written by Craig and others followed with Mickey and Grace till Craig finally left “the band” in 1990 and everybody Craig had enjoyed playing with were gone by then.

Needless to say both Craig and TOP played many of their own recognizable hits at this show as it was another return to Rodney Strong by Craig Chaquico playing many of his own songs from five decades at the top of the charts in many musical formats as a bandmember, solo artist,  and a bandleader.

“We only play the places we LOVE to play and that are fun to go to.  Even if it’s HOTTER THAN AN ACOUSTIC HIGHWAY TO H*LL!!!  Those about to jazz, funk, and rock, we salute you!” -Craig
